St Catherine's Monastery
At the foot of Mt Sinai is St Catherine's Monastery, which was set up in this remote area of Egypt (yes, Mt Sinai is in Egypt, but I get the feeling that it's historically more significant to Israel.) in some effort to avoid persecution. It really does not look like the architectural-model that it looks like in the picture. The walls rise some 50 feet and they utterly dwarfed me. It was closed that morning when we finally completed the descent from the summit because it was Sabbath, I believe. Sorry, was anyone expecting something mindblowing here?
